TrueCost is designed to help users compare the cost of different vehicle ownership scenarios. We respect your privacy and aim to collect only the minimum data required to improve the app.
Financial Data
Financial information entered into TrueCost, including values extracted from imported quote PDFs, is stored on your device. Calculations are performed locally, and financial data is not transmitted to external servers or stored remotely by TrueCost.
Document & Quote Data (PDF Imports)
If you import a lease quote PDF into TrueCost, the document is processed on your device using Apple’s built-in PDF and text recognition frameworks. The PDF is used to extract relevant quote values, such as finance payments, residual values, running cost budgets, and provider details.
TrueCost does not upload your quote PDFs to our servers for processing. The original PDF is not stored by TrueCost after import.
If you choose to save a comparison, the extracted quote values are stored locally on your device as part of your saved comparison data.
Anonymous analytics may record that a quote import was started, completed, or failed, but the contents of your quote PDF and extracted financial values are not included in analytics.
Data We Collect
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous information about how the app is used, such as screens viewed and actions taken.
- Crash Data: If the app crashes, we collect diagnostic information to help fix issues.
How We Collect Data
We use third-party services including Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous usage and diagnostic data. This data does not include any financial information entered into the app and is not linked to your identity.
